Abstract

Offshore, in the Bay of Kaštela, karst groundwater, which initiallyflowed under a hanging karst barrier, flows out from two submarinesprings. The water flows from fissures enlarged by corrosion anderosion at sites that were previously coastal karst springs. They weresubmerged due to sea level rise at least 7,000 years ago and, since that time, they function as submarine springs, at about 32-35 m belowsea level.
